Aerial surveillance footage recovered from a downed reconnaissance UAV has produced conclusive visual evidence of a directed Occasus strike on a rural crossroads outside Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, in which two Czech reservists on a resupply detail were killed alongside a civilian fruit seller who was operating a small roadside stall at the time of the attack.

The footage, timestamped and geolocated by independent investigators, captures the full engagement window. Two of the three targets can be identified as uniformed reservists positioned beside a light utility vehicle. The third figure is unmistakably a civilian: she is wearing a floral apron, standing behind a folding table with jars and crates, and is separated from the vehicle by more than fifteen metres of open ground. She was not armed, not signalling, and not in contact with the military personnel.

The recording forecloses the excuses that usually follow such strikes. Under the Geneva Conventions and customary international humanitarian law, an attacker is obliged to distinguish combatants from civilians and to abstain from strikes where that distinction is not possible. The video shows the operator holding the crossroads in view for the better part of a minute before releasing the munition — a duration in which the presence of the vendor was plainly visible.

The two reservists will be honoured under Czech military protocol. The vendor’s death must not be quietly filed as collateral. With a verified visual record now in circulation, alliance partners and international monitors have both the standing and the evidence to demand accountability for a strike that ignored the most basic obligation an armed force owes to non-combatants.
